Business Project Manager for Project Management Office: Under the direction of the Director of Project Management (OR Senior Manager), the Business Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, tracking, and implementing the global business and operational projects. He/she will support and advocate project management principles and operational excellence tools within the organization. He/She will assist design and execute analysis independently and must possess excellent organizational and project management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the activities of the project team.
  • Assists in the management of all phases of the project development life cycle, including analysis, design, development, testing and implementation.
  • Participates in project related activities with cross functional groups or external vendors.
  • Provides input to project planning, scheduling, status reporting, and project budgets.
  • Tracks key project milestones, escalates issues, and adjusts project plans to accurately reflect the project’s progress.
  • Serves as a liaison to the business team for fulfilling project requirements.
  • Communicates with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk, and resources associated with the project.
  • Implements projects consistent with PMO plans and installation standards.
  • Participates in the establishment of project management methodologies, policies, procedures and best practices for the organization.
  • Works effectively in a matrixed organization to gain commitment and achieve desired results.
  • Ensure that all projects have measurable outcomes based on effective metrics
  • Demonstrate an ability to readily master new business content based on project needs
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships throughout the organization

Required Skills & Experience:

  • MBA or relevant work experience
  • 4 - 6 years of project management or business consulting experience working in complex business environments
  • Strong project management, quality improvement and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and a high degree of initiative
  • Superior conceptual and analytical skills, with ability to succinctly interpret data and strategic frameworks for executives
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and decision-making sessions, present information, and respond to questions from groups of staff, managers, and various stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross functional and cross geographic stakeholders
  • Ability to manage a significant level of detail without losing sight of the big picture
  • Proven track record of meeting project deadlines/deliverables with successful outcomes. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced business environment
  • Experience in change management.
  • Proven experience with MS Word, Excel, MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint or like software
  • Six Sigma experience
  • Must pass Zipcar’s Pre-Employment background check and drug screen
