As part of its Public Policy Practice, Altai Consulting seeks skilled candidates for a Project Manager, Middle East.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The consultant’s role will be to manage and deliver research projects, including:
• Management tasks: budget planning, team recruitment and management, set-up of processes, time organization
• Implementation of field research on various socio-economic and developmental topics in the Middle East
• Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
• Report writing and presentations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Master-level university education in development, economics, international relations, political sciences, or other relevant subjects
• Management skills
• Residing or willing to reside in Amman, Erbil or Beirut (to be discussed depending on profiles), and engage in intensive work travels to various locations in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq
• Professional level in Arabic (reading, writing, speaking; standard and Levantine or Iraqi dialects), professional level in English (oral and written)
• Writing skills: ability to write entire reports (40-80 pages) autonomously, in English
• Oral skills: ability to deliver formal oral presentations, facilitate official workshops, in
English and Arabic
• Min. 3-4 years of professional experience in international development organizations, consulting, think tanks, INGOs

ASSETS

• Fieldwork experience in Lebanon / Iraq / Jordan / Syria
• French and / or Kurdish
• Experience in consulting for INGOs (research, evaluations, etc.) and international organizations (UN agencies, World Bank, donors)
• Experience in conducting surveys on representative samples
• Experience in qualitative social research
• Quantitative and IT skills (advanced Excel, statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, R or comparable, SQL, GIS, internet development, programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc.)

• Assertive manager who cares about the well-being of his / her staff
• Able to cope with difficult situations (time pressure, demanding clients and interlocutors, logistics of travels)
• At ease in official settings (international conferences, formal presentations, etc.)

CONDITIONS

• Base monthly compensation dependent on qualifications and experience
• All costs covered during field trips
• Trial period 3 months, followed by annual contract tacitly renewed (min. commitment desired 2 years)
