Welcome to our new home!

In August 2014, The Hostel opened its doors after five months of building work by hardworking locals and volunteers, many of which have been from Workaway.
We are Gili Meno’s first and only beachfront hostel, situated on Meno’s eastern beach right in front of the islands prime snorkelling spot. Gili Meno is a tiny, tropical coral island one hour speed boat ride east of Bali. It is the smallest of the Gili Islands which makes it delicate and resources somewhat precious.

We are looking at ways to promote sustainability for the long term future of the island. We need to find ways to harvest rainwater, reuse the grey water in the garden, grow organic food, compost all the organic waste, keep the beaches clean and educate our visitors protect the coral reefs leaving shells and coral in place. When we have successful methods to do all this we can promote useful practices to the children at the local school and any locals that are interested. We need your ideas,education, experience and energy to do this.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team of volunteers to help us develop our eco practices as well as in the day-to-day running of the hostel. There are always new projects going on and we’d love you to come and make a difference and make our place even more special.

You guys will be putting the whole concept together with your ideas and energy. Not only will you help run the hostel but contribute to develop our eco friendly practices to help sustain the island’s most precious resources.

We offer tent accommodation, breakfast, water, tea and coffee in return for a days work. If you stay with us more than one month you also get five days off to travel!
