Promoting social innovation through leading media in over 40 countries

The structure: Sparknews

Created in 2012 by Christian de Boisredon (Ashoka fellow), Sparknews is a social company, at the crossroad between leading medias and social innovation. Our mission is to share inspiring solutions and initiatives to trigger action.

3 main activities:

SOURCING initiatives with a social impact thanks to the first collaborative solutions video platform www.sparknews.com. Have a look at: example 1 and example 2.

SHARING these solutions in companies during conferences and large scale media operations:

in leading media worldwide through Impact Journalism Day, with +45 leading medias in +40 pays that publish supplements reaching together 120 million readers (Le Figaro, Asahi Shimbun, The Straits Times, USA today, Al Hayat, La Presse, El Watan, Le Soir…).

ASSISTING companies in their social innovation strategy thanks to consulting missions (CSR, innovation, mobilisation…), seminars (inspiring content), sourcing missions and creating quality relations between companies and innovations through activities like “colabs” and a Club

Main missions for the intern:

manage the existing partnerships with the +45 newspapers of the 2015 edition
prospecting new titles for the 2016 edition: contact with the editors-in-chief, manage the content together with the editorial team, manage the contracts and specific needs of the partners
launch an international open call for projects for IJD 2016
actively search for social innovations and be proactive processes around editorial content for partner newspapers
assist partner media in realizing solutions journalism ona daily basis
create partnerships with TV/radios for IJD 2016
coordinate related events around Impact Journalism Day: seminars, forums, workshops etc.
Manage complex documents and databases

Required skills and competences:

work independently
social skills
bilingual French/English. Spanish and/or other languages (Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi etc.) are appreciated but not mandatory
be curious and interested in social innovation
be interested in the media sector
be dynamic, rigorous and proactive
