Part time with flexibility on number of days for the right candidate
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join us as Programme Manager, overseeing the implementation of the OFDA-funded project ‘Measuring Separation in Emergencies’.
Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Humanitarian department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.
As Programme Manager you will have overall responsibility for delivering the project through day to day project management. You will act as the focal point for coordination with all individuals and groups supporting the project, including Save the Children US and Columbia University, whilst ensuring all stakeholders work together collaboratively. In addition you will:
- Ensure clear coordination, communication and regular updates including calls and meetings, with the Advisory Panel and other relevant groups and stakeholders
- Provide distance and on-the-ground support to the piloting of tools in humanitarian contexts
- Work with methodologists in Columbia University to finalise the assessment tools and create a ‘Measuring Separation Toolkit’ and provide guidance on what tool to use and when
- Identify funding opportunities and develop proposals to implement ‘next steps’ including support to the roll-out of the assessment tools and capacity building of users
- Manage the budget tracking, invoicing and expenditure in line with budget reporting requirements, working closely with the finance and grant teams
- Disseminate learning from the Measuring Separation in Emergencies programme via webinars, presentations, integration of approaches into interagency tools and trainings etc.
To be successful you will have a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and be educated to Msc/MA level in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience. You should also have experience of working globally in an INGO environment in the field of Child Protection including operational experience at a country level. In addition you will have:
- Applied research in a related field
- Comprehensive experience and proven track record in grant management and donor compliance
- Understanding of humanitarian aid architecture
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to maintain both internal and external relationships
- Strong skills in the usage of Microsoft packages, project management tools and other financial systems.
At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.
Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we’ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
