Summary job description

We are currently recruiting a Partnership Support Technician to lead our efforts Supporting local partner organizations in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The role Entails launching new partnerships with civil society organizations, and sharing technical and marine resource management experiences. The Partnership Support Technician will Provide bespoke training and technical support to local partners in the development and implementation of open source mobile participatory fisheries landing monitoring systems, and local media partners in efforts to engage target Communities in preliminary discussions Regarding Improving the management of small-scale fisheries.

Additional Responsibilities will include working with partner organizations and colleagues in Blue Ventures Conservation team to international community exchanges to share learning and best practice in tropical small-scale fisheries management and locally-led marine conservation.

The Partnership Support Technician will report to Blue Ventures’ UK-based Conservation Director and Conservation Programs Assistant, and be based in the field Alongside local partner organizations, with regular national and occasional overseas travel to work with partners and field teams.

Expérience

Technical

  • Postgraduate level qualification in relevant subject (environmental, conservation or marine science)
  • At least five years’ practical experience in field-based conservation
  • Experience of data analysis and management
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Google Apps
  • Experience of small scale fisheries monitoring, Ideally through participatory (community-based) methods
  • Good knowledge of smartphone apps and systems for data collection (Including Ideally Open Data Kit)
  • Experience of financial management and budget

Partnerships

  • Experience of Developing multi-sector partnerships, Including with Communities, fisheries autorités, and NGOs
  • Sensitivity to partner and community needs and interests; humility and commitment to Supporting local capacity development for conservation
  • Experience working with and reporting to Donors, Including corporations, trusts, foundations and agencies (desirable)
  • Work experience in Indonesia, Including knowledge of marine environmental and cultural context (desirable)

communications

  • Fluency in English (required) and Bahasa (highly desirable)
  • Excellent writing skills, with a proven track record in Both report writing and peer-reviewed publication Ideally
  • Excellent communication skills and strong Ability to give public presentations
  • Experience of Delivering Both training to groups and one-to-one
