FLEXIBLE PART-TIME HOURS — TENT CAMPING

PLEASE read this thoroughly before applying…. ESPECIALLY THE ACCOMMODATION SECTION BELOW!… it is only good for you and for us if you truly get what we’re about here before coming!

We are a happy, casual, friendly, fun, kind and respectful family, that love people and enjoy getting to know people from other cultures and backgrounds. We don’t smoke, rarely drink and don’t use drugs, and are seeking volunteers with those traits too. We welcome you to come and spend some time with us, learn the language and culture, and go explore the island while helping with a great cause!

We are in the process of cleaning up and fixing up a place where we will, when it’s ready, be setting up a donation-based spiritual/metaphysical/healing lounge, an inclusive place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come to relax, socialize, learn and share in life, spiritual/esoteric experience and healing in a casual, raw, real-life, down-to-earth atmosphere of freedom, fun, kindness, music and laughter.

While you don’t need to understand or engage the same metaphysical or spiritual views (this is not a religious thing), we wish to sustain an atmosphere of kindness, positive being, enjoyment of life and harmony for all.

We have two great kids (ages 6&7), two sweet cats and a wonderful huge fluffy hug of a dog (Great Pyrenees). We generally practice child-centered, spirit-first parenting, and believe that raising children with love and inspiration is key, even if it’s messy or loud! So, this is a best fit if you truly love children and enjoy their true nature in kids being kids.

I am also in the process of healing my advanced cancer using only natural, energetic and esoteric means (which I have done once before), and embracing the power of spirit, positivity, love and whole beingness. I am well, and this is part of a healing and learning journey that I know I have been called upon to help heal others to cure cancer by natural means, and will be working on developing a healing charity and esoteric healing retreats.

We are every-day folks, spiritual but not the type that talk as though angels are sleeping on our tongues (lol — boy oh boy would they get a rude awakening when I get going!). We embrace spirituality as a real and integral part of the WHOLE of gritty human life, not a soft-shoe tippy-toe whisper in a fairy garden. (but, ya, we do believe in fairies too)

While we are embarking on deep and meaningful work, our lifestyle is often silly, whimsical, unconventional, messy and loud! did I say loud? Yes, sometimes loud. And sometimes quiet. And sometimes boring. And sometimes a bit crazy. Love, life and joy to us includes spontaneous unscheduled life, irregular sleeping hours, children bouncing of the walls being kids, occasional live-in-the-now chaos, sometimes just plain sitting around times, sometimes deep spiritual philosophical talks, exploring the deeper realms of existentialism, promoting world peace and the odd f-bomb being dropped when my throat chakra says "tell-it-like-it-is-girl!".

While things do need to get done (and do get done), we are not especially structured or scheduled… we tend to live as it comes and embrace spontaneity, and we love it that way! So, you need to be pretty independent, completely trustworthy, be able to step up and take initiative to get things done, set your own schedule (and actually put in the honest hours each day and get some work done), be fine working on your own and without alot of instruction/supervision, and also be comfortable to go out and explore, enjoy your tourism and entertain yourself.

We are welcoming and accommodating and can sometimes hang out with you a bit too, but also have alot of our own stuff that we need to tend to, and enjoy our family downtime, meditative-escape time, etc. too.

The hours and schedule can be flexible to accommodate your lifestyle, to accomplish getting stuff done while still getting your fullest enjoyment of your exploration and adventures in B.C.!

If this sounds like an awesome fit for you, and you’re smiling at the idea of it all, then drop us a note!

Thanks for your interest, and happy workawaying!!

  • Help

We are looking for some great people to help with getting the place (indoor and outdoor) cleaned up, fixed up, housekeeping, building cleaning, painting, grounds keeping, lawns, tree-trimming, building gardens, fence-repair, deck-repair, food-growing and fruit picking in season, painting, general maintenance, general repairs, etc.

We also gratefully embrace family-based help, such as cooking, cleaning, babysitting, laundry, organizing, helping with the kids, etc., as well as help with walking, brushing and teaching Phoenix.

That’s the main stuff we need help with, but we are also open to other ideas for a smaller part of your time while you are here too! Such as….

We love nature, music, art, non-religious spirituality, dance, food and laughter, would love to learn other languages/food/cultures, and enjoy learning all sorts of new things. We are also homeschoolers, so a fun attitude, musical, artistic, teaching, performance, nature and other knowledge/talents to share with the family are all very honoured too!

Sharing of spiritual depth, wisdom, healing practices, light/energy work, etc., if that happens to be your thing, and other aspects you may bring.

Or perhaps you are a healer that would like to work with me on curing my cancer.

Or maybe you’d like to build an organic garden, or a cob kitchen or cabin or greenhouse!

Or paint a giant wall mural!

Or just be really awesome with the kids and inspire their wild wondrous selves!

Or you might have special wisdom, knowledge, entertainment or talents that you’d like to share with our town community, doing workshops or special events or activities at the lounge.

What are YOUR passions and personality strengths? What do YOU love to do, share and experience? What would YOU love to do, learn and experience?

The important thing is that you let us know IN ADVANCE what type of skills/experience you have and what types of work you are available to do, so that we can plan your visit according to both our needs and your wishes!

  • Accommodation

SUMMER/AUTUMN TENT CAMPING under brilliant starry skies in the huge backyard, in a lovely small town near the lake among gorgeous forested mountains. Good quality tent and bedding are provided, campfires welcome in season, 24-hour access to quality indoor washrooms and fresh hot/cold running water, scheduled daily use of indoor shower, use of laundry facilities as needed.

In general, food will be provided, and workawayers will help with the cooking and cleaning; however, if you have any special diet or food/drink preferences, you will provide those yourself.

Free wi-fi access (for your own device), and electrical re-charge of devices (110V/60Hz) are available, as well as reasonable use of house phone as needed.

*IMPORTANT! — It is really important to know yourself for sure that you would really LOVE tent-camping, as we do not have indoor accommodations at this time, and we really want you to be happy in your arrangements, living a vacation you would enjoy. We would never want someone to feel put out or like they are settling for second-best. Camping is awesome, but only if you love it!

We can also always make room on a couch in the lounge if a storm should arise! Haven’t seen one here yet, but, anything can happen!

We are also contemplating possibly welcoming workawayers in the winter too, with indoor accommodations of course (once we have such)… or different types of work once we have the lounge actually set up and operating…. more on all of that as time evolves.

  • What else …

We recently got a great tudor-style place, formerly a pub/restaurant, in a beautiful, peaceful, friendly tiny community on a lake among forested mountains on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. It is in the heart of the village, but a very tiny village it is, and it is fairly remote from the cities, although there are commuter buses that you can take to the nearby cities at certain times each day.

Enjoy plenty of free time to explore the wonders of Canada’s natural wilderness, watching eagles soar all day, watching for the occasional deer, elk and maybe even a bear, gazing at fluffy white clouds in bright blue skies, basking in the rejuvenating sun through the purest air, swimming in a huge beautiful clear mountain lake with 2 lovely pebble beaches in close walking distance, and wander enchanting forest trails. Join in the local town activities like the village market in season, lawn bowling and movie night, chat with the locals, play in the nearby parks and beaches, trek out for some hiking, or explore from the next town over with mountain-biking, canoe and kayak rentals in season.

With your flexible time off, take the bus to the nearby great summer tourist town of Lake Cowichan and its fabulous tubing river, or the magnificent salt-air ocean coast, enchanted old-growth rainforests, music festivals and farmers markets around the Island, the ferry to the magical Islands in the Salish Sea where you can watch for fun seals, grand sealions and magnificent orcas. Take a weekend away to Canada’s surfing capital Tofino, or take a ferry across to spectacular Vancouver, or a bus to the fabulous city of Victoria, a Canadian tourism jewel with so much to do and experience!

Or, just relax in our simple humble town, bask in calm sun, gaze into spectacular rich pink-orange sunsets reflecting over the rippling lake, stare forever into the stars at night, and just enjoy the magic that is living amidst B.C.’s nature paradise.

    Wow I love it here!
