  • Help

Weeding, gardening, landscaping, hauling firewood, mulching, cleaning, housekeeping, hosting, fix-it projects, general maintenance, recycling, organizing, assisting the guests, and other facets of running a bed & breakfast.

We live in a rain forest, it takes a crew of people to maintain the property. The invasive and noxious weeds always tries to grow back, but we weed out foreign invasive plants by hand. Giant Hapu'u ferns form a canopy 15 feet high with flowers and native foliage growing under. Greenhouses grow food year round, and needs to be tended to.

We collect all of the water we use here. Pumping, filtering, treating, purifying, and monitoring the catchment system is vital to keeping our Inn flowing.

We're willing to train if you have the enthusiasm to want to learn. Prior experience is a plus! Life on a volcano is hardly normal, but we enjoy it and hope you will too.

  • What else …

We live on the worlds most active volcano. Nothing quite like it.

The local village has a gas station, a few bars and restaurants, a community center, Sunday farmers market, a bunch of art studios, a hardware store and a few general stores. Hitchhiking is common here and a City Bus (Hele-on bus), passing by twice a day, that takes you all around the island.

We are less than a mile from the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, home of Kilauea Volcano, the only volcano in the world with 2 eruptions occurring simultaneously! The park has great hikes, some beaches (back country hike), craters, steam vents, camping, museum & visitor center, bird watching, and sight seeing - oh, and a huge bubbling lava lake right in the summit caldera!
