Lyft is looking for a bright, energetic, and self-motivated attorney with at least 7 years of litigation management experience gained both at a leading law firm and in-house, ideally at a technology or Internet company. Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will be the internal lead for all dispute and litigation matters, provide general legal advice on a variety of issues, coordinate legal strategy, and help build out Lyft’s legal team. Additionally, you will work extensively across functions to help craft solutions to the novel legal challenges Lyft faces every day.

The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and comfortable working in an ambiguous, quickly-changing environment with a high workload.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • J.D. from a top law school with exceptional academic credentials
  • Minimum of 7 years practicing law, both at a top law firm and in-house at a technology company.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive, « can do » attitude to the workplace and works collaboratively with other members of the Legal team and with clients.
  • Be able to simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Have a strong desire to learn the business and function integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Be collegial, hard working, confident, a self-starter and have a passion for results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management and oversight of all disputes and litigation matters involving Lyft,including formulating and leading our strategic litigation planning efforts.
  • Providing advice and counsel to the business team leaders on all legal matters affecting your areas of coverage, in consultation with other members of the Legal team and outside counsel, as necessary.
  • Managing outside counsel in your areas of coverage.
  • Providing substantive support for the rest of the Legal team on an as-needed basis.
