Une possibilité de fuite ?

  • Description

*️️*️️ Due to several workawayers falling through (visa issues etc) I have immediate openings and am short handed as we have moved our Ranch to a great new location. I need last minute workawayers now!*️️*️️

*️️I have had some issues with some of my first few work awayers. I can only take a limited amount of people at one time, so please be serious and honest with yourself and do not take someone else's slot if you are going to flake. I have a lot of applicants and a long waiting list. The first few people who came only stayed a few days and then left without notice. It was too late for other people who were on the waiting list to fill the vacant spots. They seemed to think that I was running a posh bed and breakfast. I got yelled at for not having dinner cooked on time one evening. So let me clarify a few things: this is a ranch out in the country. It is hot. It is dirty. It is dusty. People think that southern California is an oasis. Do your homework. There are nice places in SoCal but it is a semi desert like environment. If you are looking for cooler weather and shade, that's Northern California! If you need to be clean all the time, if you are the type that always has to do your hair and makeup, if you are allergic to sweating, this is not the place for you. We do all outdoor activities. If you do not like the outdoors and need to be indoors with air-conditioning, this is not the place for you. There are bugs, flies, spiders, mice, rars, swuirrels, chickens etc…this is the country…we have barns which attract these kinds of creatures. If you can't handle that, do not waste my time or your time. If you are not in shape, this is not the place for you and you will not be accepted because you would be a liability and would put yourself at risk. If you are lazy, this is not the place for you. This is hard work! We work hard and play hard. Riding the horses is considered play time, not work time. I took some of the first people on a lovely horseback ride through the wineries where they enjoyed wine tasting and they thought that was a hard day's work. That was play time. I am not your mother. Do your own laundry. Clean up after yourself! Throw away your trash. We take turns cooking. Clean your dishes. Do not stay up until 2 am and then sleep in until noon and then complain how it's too hot to do anything. We get up early here and work when it's cooler. You do not need experience with horses as we will teach you; however, if you are timid, scared, or have anxiety, this is not the place for you. I normally charge $45-80 per hour for the training you will receive here. Do not waste my time. This is not a good place for older people or those with health issues! I'm not discriminating but you will not be able to keep up! If you are squeamish and can't handle the sight of blood or the smell of manure or urine, this is not the place for you! Accommodations are very basic and small! There is no air conditioning. There is no TV! If you complain a lot, are a negative person, entitled and think you are too good to clean up after yourself or an animal, this is not the place for you! If you think you can handle all of that, then you will be welcome here and you will enjoy it. *️️

I own an equestrian business on 11 acres in Southern California with 30 horses ranging in age from 2-30 years old. We have mares, geldings, and stallions. We have mainly Arabian and Thoroughbred horses, but also have other breeds such as Percheron, Mustang, Paint, Quarter Horse, Morgan etc. We do western and english riding with a focus on the disciplines of trail riding, endurance riding, jumping, and barrel racing. We offer many services to our clients including horse training, sales, opportunities to compete, as well as horseback riding adventures. Our most popular adventure is our Wine Tasting Tour where guests get to ride horses through the local beautiful wineries and vineyards and stop at different wineries for tastings. We are looking for people who want to help care for and enjoy our horses, most of which are rescue horses.

Our volunteers would participate in both daily ranch tasks as well as occational special projects depending on volunteers' skills.

*️️*️️Things that must be done everyday:
    Feed horses
Water horses and clean their water tubs when needed
    Pick up manure
    Bathe, brush and groom horses
    Assist in medicating horses
    Water plants
    Cook meals
    Keep living area clean

There will also be many opportunities to ride horses as well as we have horses for all ages and experience levels. NO HORSE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. We can teach you everything. However, if you do have horseback riding experience, you may ride our more experienced/competition horses in a discipline of your choice.

Special Projects that we are looking to have done on the ranch is electrical work (fixing the hot walker, fixing some of the lights in one of the barns etc, hot water heater for the horse's wash rack), plumbing work (fixing the sprinklers, mainenance on the horse's automatic waters, etc), tearing down and remodeling the small apartment in the barn, fence repairs, welding, trimming trees etc. Volunteers are not required to be skilled in any of these activities and those who are not can do other horse related tasks.

  • Accommodation

We have up to 4 work awayers at a time. Depending on your travel dates, you may be sharing a room with other people. I try to have members of opposite sexes stay in different rooms. But this is not always possible. Please communicate with me if you are or are not ok staying with other people or staying with people of the opposite sex so that I can try to accommodate you.

We have bunk beds set up in two rooms of our house. One has a twin on top and a full size on bottom. We will share one bathroom. There is another full time resident in the master bedroom of the house with his own bathroom. His room and bathroom is off limits. He is nice and easy to get along with and is only in the house from Monday-Thursday. He is gone the majority of the day. He does not work with us as he has alternate employment.

The rooms are small but are comfortable. We have internet and will provide you with the wifi password. We do not have a TV or cable but want to set one up for movies. We have a full kitchen with stove, oven, toaster, toaster oven, microwave, fridge, freezer etc. We have a washer and dryer.

We do not have air conditioning but will be installing a swamp cooler. The weather is pretty mild here in Southern California in the winter but can get very hot in the spring summer and fall. We also have fans and heaters if needed. There is an indoor toilet. We have an additional living quarters trailer that we take to horseback riding competitions. It has an extra shower should we need it.

  • What else …

There are so many things to do in Southern California. We have everything. The beaches are awesome and a short drive from our ranch (45 min - 1 hour). There are all kinds of things to do at the beach from paddle boarding, canoeing, jet skiing, surfing, fishing, boat rides, etc. You could go to Catalina Island! There are lakes all around. There are so many awesome places to go hiking or bike riding. There are museums, theme parks, rock climbing, dirt track car races etc. There are mountains to explore! You can ski and snowboard during the winter (only 1.5 hours away from the ranch). Or you can head to Las Vegas for the weekend (only 3-3.5 hours from the ranch). You can also head up to Universal Studios or any of the other Los Angeles attractions (plenty of tours to go on!). This is a great area to live and visit.
