  Nuestro proyecto es una biblio-ludoteca infantil comunitaria, ubicada en el pueblo de Livingston, Izabal, Guatemala. De lunes a viernes ofrecemos actividades para los niños del pueblo, provenientes principalmente de los grupos garífuna y q´eqchi. Les apoyamos con sus deberes escolares, organizamos juegos, actividades deportivas, leemos, dibujamos, hacemos manualidades, cantamos, nos divertimos y lo disfrutamos :)!
  Los niños aprenden a comunicarse, solucionar problemas y conflictos, convivir con los demás, adquirir hábitos de estudio, reforzando la paciencia y tolerancia. Es por esto, que entre más voluntarios tengamos, mayor serán las experiencias que se puedan ofrecer a los niños, desarrollando sus capacidades, abriendo su mente y acompañando su crecimiento.
  Es importante aclarar que necesitamos voluntarios con un manejo medio o elevado de español, ya que la comunicación con los niños es la labor fundamental de este proyecto.

  Our project is a community library for children, located in the town of Livingston, Izabal, Guatemala. From Monday to Friday we offer activities for the children of the village, mainly coming from the Garífuna and Q'eqchi groups. We support you with your homework, we organize games, sports activities, read, draw, craft, sing, have fun and enjoy it :)!
  Children learn to communicate, solve problems and conflicts, coexist with others, acquire study habits, reinforce patience and tolerance. That is why, the more volunteers we have, the greater the experiences that can be offered to children, developing their abilities, opening their minds and accompanying their growth.

  It is important that we make clear that we need volunteers who are able to speak an intermediate or high level of Spanish. This is due to the fundamental need for communication with the children that come to the library.

  Los voluntarios de la Biblio- Ludoteca organizan actividades para los niños, juegan con ellos, les apoyan con sus deberes escolares, les enseñan y les acompañian en su desarrollo y crecimiento.
  Todas las ideas son bienvenidas! Ven y comparte tus experiencias y tu conocimiento para contribuír a nuestra comunidad.

  Volunteers at the Library organize activities for children, play with them, support them with their schoolwork, teach and accompany them in their development and growth.

  Dormitorio/Cuarto compartido hasta para 7 voluntarios al interior del hotel, aunque eso no significa que tienen las garantías del hotel ya que es un cuarto perteneciente a la biblioteca, por eso es bueno mantenerlo siempre ordenado y limpio. Acá les otorgamos sabanas, pero es responsabilidad del voluntario lavarlas al igual que su ropa.
  Principalmente por razones económicas no podemos ofrecer alimentación incluida, pero tenemos una cocina en la biblioteca, donde los voluntarios pueden preparar su propia comida con los productos locales. También hay mucha comida económica en las calles del pueblo.

  Dorm / Shared room for up to 7 volunteers inside the hotel, although that does not mean that they have the hotel guarantees since it is a room belonging to the library, so it is good to keep it always tidy and clean. Here we give you sheets, but it is the volunteer's responsibility to wash them as well as your clothes.
  Mainly for economic reasons we can not offer food included, but we have a kitchen in the library, where volunteers can prepare their own food with local products. There is also plenty of economic food on the streets of the village.

  Participando en el proyecto se brinda posibilidad de vivir en una comunidad, conocer a los habitantes de Livingston, a otros voluntari@s de diferentes países, conocer el Caribe Guatemalteco y su cultura.

  El pueblo es bastante pequeño así que no hay problema en recorrerlo caminando. Y a pesar de contaminación ambiental en la playa, también hay rincones de naturaleza muy bonitos: selva, playa,el famoso Rio Dulce y el Canyon de Vaca. Las actividades deportivas son nadar, correr, tomar un cayac, caminar en la selva, etc.

  Participating in the project offers the possibility of living in a community, meeting the inhabitants of Livingston, other volunteers from different countries, getting to know the Guatemalan Caribbean and its culture.

  The town is quite small so there is no problem walking it. And despite environmental pollution on the beach, there are also very beautiful corners of nature: jungle, beach, the famous Rio Dulce and Canyon de Vaca. The sports activities are swimming, running, taking a cayac, walking in the jungle, etc.
