OYO Rooms (oyohotels.com) is a marketplace of branded budget Rooms with Standardization of experience; started by Ritesh Agarwal, a Thiel Fellow in 2013 when he saw the process of stay and booking budget hotels was not only a pain but also a lot hassle. Given it was this broken & hence wanted to solve it by building OYO by building it into India's first Rooms 2.0 brand.
OYO stands for quirky words 'On Your Own', and started to build India's largest chain of efficient, young, standardized Rooms and superior scale of growth to build India's first, largest and coolest chain of no frills Rooms which might not have Spa, Gym etc like the star hotels but will live upto the no-frills standards & high expectations for prices like never earlier. It's a 3 star hotel experience in the price, half as much.
