Description
This is a happy, colorful, and super relaxed locally run hostel in Balgue- a small town on Isla de Ometepe. A good place to be surrounded by nature. We love da good tunes and good vibes 🙂 We are just down the road from the entrance to the Maderas volcano hike and under a minute walk the waters edge. We hire out dirtbikes, scooters and bicycles; and run tours from our hostel.

We are actually looking for two types of volunteers
*️️*️️PLEASE LET US KNOW WHICH TYPE OF VOLUNTEER YOU ARE APPLYING FOR IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR MESSAGE :1. Regular Volunteer - at least 3 weeks :
We are always looking for someone to help with the reception, the bar (the reggae bar is not a party place, it closes at 10h30 for quiet hours), sometimes cooking and maybe, eventually, breakfast. Also to help with the painting of the new rooms and common areas. The reception tasks are mostly to take care of the reservations, be sure that the dorms and the rooms are ready for the new guests, handle the checking in and out of customers, cash handling, answering the guests questions and selling beers at the bar between 11h to 10h30.
In total it's around 25 hours of work per week and you will have two days off, the accommodation and the lunch.
We want to find someone happy, outgoing, responsible and honest and with enough initiative to be able to make sure things get done properly and help is being given where needed.
We are looking for fluent English speakers and at least intermediate Spanish (one of the owners speaks very little English and you will have to communicate with him often).2. Reception & Volunteers Manager - at least 3 months :
We are also looking a more serious volunteering engagement. The reception and volunteer manager will have to be with us at least 3 months and will manage the front desk and the volunteers and will have to do some admin tasks. We need someone very responsible, honest, energetic, outgoing, proactive and organized. It is more work per week than a normal volunteer (around 40 hours instead of the 25) but you will have two days off, the accommodation, 3 meals a day and a compensation for your extra hours at the end of the week. The job is mostly to take care of the reception (manage the reservations, be sure that the dorms and the rooms are ready for the new guest, handle the checking in and out customers, cash handling, answering the guest questions and selling beers at the bar in-between 11h to 10h30) and the volunteers organized (documents for guests and volunteers, making the schedule, hunting new volunteers and find a new manager before you leaving to keep the volunteer program on track etc.)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
This hostel is only one of a couple in the area, the rest is filed with local villages, farms, schools, churches and little markets - proper Nicaraguan lifestyle. Excellent spot to practice Spanish and get to know locals around the area and learn. You can hike volcanoes, go to waterfalls and explore the island by motorbike, be prepared to dodge animals on the road.
