In this role you perform underwriting for small business loans of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Spain (workspace Berlin) by identifying and evaluating potential credit and fraud risk. You analyze financial statements and other relevant credit information and develop recommendations whether to accept a loan request providing clear justification. In addition, you identify and recommend possible process improvements and opportunities for automation, and support the implementation. Ensuring regulatory compliance completes your field of activity. In return you will get the possibility to take on responsibility from day and shape the business in your area.

Who we’re looking for

After earning a university degree in business or economics you already have gained many years of experience (at least 10 years) in underwriting for small business loans at one of the prominent banks in Spain (e.g., Santander, BBVA, Bancaja, Bankia). You possess a good understanding of small business lending including the ability to analyze and verify financial documents (business and personal income statements, balance sheets, bank statements, credit reports, tax reports, etc.). Besides you possess a good knowledge of financial accounting, understand the key risk drivers and are familiar with how credit risk models work, lending guidelines and loan terminology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, also (and especially) in Spanish, with strong attention to detail and good MS Office skills complete your profile.
