The role:
We are growing a team of creative stars to elevate our brand. Differentiating our products and brand in the world requires crackerjack conceptual thinking, entertaining and informative storytelling, deep empathy toward our audiences and Mozilla community, concise and finely crafted advertising copy, and an ability to translate technical product specifications and features into benefits that our users can relate to and understand.
We seek a writer able to move nimbly from pithy digital ad headlines to longer form narrative storytelling, and to understand how the marriage of words and visuals is greater than the sum of their parts.
As a Creative Lead, Copywriting here at Mozilla, you will…
- Write engaging copy to drive trial and adoption of new product features for existing users of the Firefox browser across devices.
- Refine the voice and tone for brand and product communication as part of the ongoing evolution of the Mozilla and Firefox identity system.
- Create original concepts drawing new attention to Mozilla product and brand offerings, including digital and offline advertising, social posts, blog writing, informative writing about the Web as a public service, and impact storytelling.
- Work collaboratively and in the open with a team of other copywriters and visual designers as well as product marketing managers, developers, and UX specialists.
- Provide creative feedback to agencies, business partners, Firefox community contributors and others to fine-tune messaging and tone.
- Present conceptual ideas and finished work to a diverse set of stakeholders, upholding the value creativity adds to the impact of the work on the user.
- Write lively copy for Mozilla brand and Firefox product style guides.
Our ideal candidate has:
- 5+ years of experience in digital advertising copywriting, journalism, technical writing, or related field.
- Several examples of different kinds of copywriting — be it a blog post, a headline within a product, an ad campaign, a speech you helped write.
- Experience writing about a technical product
- Prior work experience for or at a startup or tech company
Bonus points for:
- Experience working collaboratively and in the open using shared tools such as Google documents.
- Experience working in an agile marketing environment and on cross-functional teams with front-end engineers, product marketers, and UX designers
- Experience working on a distributed team
- Practice of a non-work-related creative discipline and ability to draw inspiration from a surrounding creative community.
- Self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet project milestones and deadlines.
