We are looking for:
A REGIONAL OPERATION DIRECTOR
(for Horn of Africa & Coastal West Africa)
Overall objective of the position: The ROD is hierarchically under the Director of Operations and consistent with ACF’s framework documents, the ROD is responsible for the geographical area assigned to her/him. The ROD participates in the preparation and development of ACF’s strategic orientations and their implementation in the field in conjunction with the Country Directors and headquarters teams s/he supervises. As such, s/he upholds the mandate of ACF and its implementation in the field. More precisely, your main responsibilities will be:
Responsibilities:
- Team Management, 7 country directors and a deputy in HQ in charge of desk support team, by pursuing an objective of performance and an objective of building the capacity of her/his staff
- Analyze and propose mission humanitarian actions by detecting and analysing key signals in her/his area of responsibility to formalize the short and medium term evolutions in the operating environment of ACF
- Strategic management of missions by contributing to the development / updating of the global strategic orientations of ACF and its fields of intervention
- Steering the accountability and economic management of missions by leading mission accountability related to all the factors impacting programme performance (short and long-term), taking the role of being an efficient interface between headquarters and missions
- Operational collaboration with Country Directors by providing operational support to Country Directors in a subsidiary manner on topics which are within their range of responsibility but which they cannot adequately address at the regional or country level (the ROD addresses problems Country Directors cannot handle at their level).
- Development of operational partnerships & linkages by creating linkages with all internal stakeholders (executive direction of ACF / Network) and externally (especially donors but also partners, public authorities, other NGOs, etc.)
- Transversal collaboration and contribution to the improvement and dissemination of the knowledge and expertise of the organization
- Communication and external representation of ACF
Qualification and previous experience:
MSc in Political Science, Business or equivalent with at least 10 years of professional experience. A previous experience in the field as Country Director with an international NGO are required. You’re known for your ability to work under pressure and your power of persuasion. English compulsory.
In addition you have a thorough knowledge of geopolitical and humanitarian situations and trends in Africa (horn of Africa and/or Coastal West Africa) as well as experience working in partnership with organizations from civil society in African countries.
You’ll have to face frequent international business trips, potential long stay (> 1month) in Kenya Regional office.
Status: Executive level – Permanent contract
Location: Paris
Annual Salary: Salary between 52 and 60 K€ gross over 13 months, 19 days of extra leaves (RTT)/ year, restaurant vouchers of 8 € (60% covered by ACF), complementary health insurance (covered 80% by ACF), refund of 50% of public transportation fees.
