Our School serves the youth of Cape Three Points, Ghana, and the surrounding communities – rural areas where access to educational opportunities is limited. Due to the lack of government-run secondary schooling, opportunities beyond junior high school are particularly limited, and local students are often prematurely pushed off the academic track, limiting their potential for growth. Our program aims to bridge this gap by providing a fee-free secondary education option with a focus on English and Reading Comprehension, Math, traditional Kente Weaving, and a variety of vocational workshops. Along the way we aim to enrich the lives of not only our students, but also those of our Ghanaian staff and volunteers and staff members from abroad who take part in the school's development

We are using organic seeds for our garden to provide us with vegetables and fruits as well as we planted a variety of tropical fruit and nut trees like mango, papaya and cashew.
We have a small chicken farm with the idea being to raise and keep enough hens to produce a sufficient number of eggs to feed the staff and students.

To educate and re-skill our students and the on-site staff in environmentally sustainable farming methods, renewable energy gathering, and waste recycling in order to decrease the exploitation and degradation of natural resources.

You should expect to work up to 5 hours/day, 5 days/week in exchange for room and board. You will stay in male or female dorms. We also give a modest monthly stipend to our volunteer teachers. Our cooks make delicious, varied meals. We eat a lot of local fruit and vegetables, rice and fish or chicken. Two nights ago, we ate spaghetti with vegetarian marinara, and last night, we ate banku with light soup.
Life here is simple. We have solar power, so use flashlights to walk around at night. We have composting toilets and bucket showers. We use public transportation.
Importantly, for cell and internet service, get an Airtel SIM card, which works the best here.
Cape Three Points, Western Region, Ghana, West Africa is located on the Atlantic Ocean, where we enjoy daily access to beach volleyball, swimming, snorkeling, and world-class surfing. The Gulf of Guinea is literally our backyard. For local fun, we go to the bar or have dinner at , the eco lodge next door. There is also good biking and hiking in the area as well as batik, kente and drumming workshops. We are located about an hour from Busua, site of one of the scenes of the iconic surf film "Endless Summer." Several hours west of Cape Coast, our area is a relaxing vacation destination for volunteers and locals alike.

You wake up, have a niiiiice bucket shower, head for the kitchen and wait patienly watching the ocean and the jungle that surounds you until Maa't is done with breakfast, you have the nicest and more complete breakfast ever (at least it was like that for me), then you head to the school wich is 2 minutes away, having to go up a hill, helped by wood steps.
Once you reach the school you wonder again and again how can something so beautiful and well structured be in the middle of nowhere. The kids are just awesome, in the beggining they are shy but curious and respecful, with time we have grown fond of each other to the point of love.
After school lunch is readdy and everyday of the week you will enjoy a different Ghanaian dish, being my favourite Fufu + light soup + goat or tuna, wich we cooked about 5 times during my whole stance.
The people is just incredibly nice, always smiling and readdy to help you in anything you need, they are very aware that you come from a totally different culture and they will answer any question you might have. I was with 6 lovely people during my stay, I grew fond of everyone of them. The ones who stay are Maa't (great girl, fun, great cook, good card player and very chill), Ago (Really good person, fun, football player, great dancer and singer and a good friend), Akwela (Hard worker, bitterly funny 😛 and great drumm player).
Imagine all this in a landscape that can only be described as paradise, with all that comes with it from lonliness, lot's of time with nothing to do but what you make for yourself, a lot of time to think, to be in direct touch with nature (Beware of the mosquitos, that was the only thing I would say I hated of the place, from 6:30pm to 5am either you have a mosquito net or you are covered with repelent or be reddy to face nature in its fullest), to swim in the beautiful but can-be dangerous sea, walking through the jungle discovering new places and hidden beaches…
I really inmersed myself in the culture and assisted to many cultural events and I encourage you to do the same, it's the best way of taking lonliness aside, really getting to know the culture and even learning the lenguage.
We hardly ate protein while I was there, maybe once every two weeks but it didn't bother me much, it's good to live on earth products for a while, even if back home I eat protein everyday.
Another good thing is that there is an eco-lodge next door where many "whites" go on the weekends, if you want to enjoy a beer or a nice full meal is a good place to go, they will also become part of your everyday people and the staff is very nice.
This place is originally made for surfers, I'm not one but I can really tell why that is, the sea is perfect for it, I insead, liked swimming from beach to beach.
The school has a huge and very complete library where you can find every type of book from teaching methods and text books to novels to filosophy and poetry, it's really wonderful.
I've nothing bad to say about this place and my experience, I could be going on like this for at least 5 more pages but I encourage you to discover the place on your own, have your experience. This is only to give you a good push to apply, you will feel usefull here!
Good luck future volunteers and a big Hello!
