Our business has recently acquired a 70's retro motel on the top of the hill in Merimbula.
Merimbula itself is a beautiful seaside town on Australia's Sapphire Coast situated mid-way between Sydney and Melbourne and about 3 hours from Canberra. This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. A great location for peaceful relaxation and meditation.
There are areas around the property to sit and relax and we have lovely grounds and a swimming pool to enjoy. There are sweeping views of the ocean from every location including the pool.

At our property we house a maximum of 8 Workawayers from across the world. During your time with us you will meet many different people and have the opportunity to share your stories and experiences. Our property gives you the best view of Merimbula and from the balcony – if you are lucky – you may have the chance to feed rainbow lorikeets as they are regular visitors to the property.

Our business is in the process of creating an itinerary that provides good quality cultural experiences for workawayers who choose to stay with us. Some of which they would not experience anywhere else on their travels. These include 4-wheel driving adventures, general camping trips and in some cases, multi-day hiking adventures.
Host offers a wage in line with the minimum wage

We are looking for enthusiastic Workawayers who take pride in their work and would like to be a part of our family.

We mainly require help with housekeeping and general maintenance of our property.

You also get free use of our laundry facilities.

All members of our team are accommodated in our bunk-house. There are plenty of areas around the property for you to sit and relax as well as a large common room with a smart TV for our team to enjoy. We have a large kitchen that is available for staff to use.

This review is very, very late, I blame procrastination. Anyways, where do I even start?? I originally came to stay for 3 weeks, but ended up staying for over 2 months. My time there was absolutely amazing. The work is so easy, 1-3 hours of housekeeping a day, and then the rest of the day you have off. You are also usually paired with a buddy… read more during work so it’s never boring. Jana, Simone, and Pat were the most amazing managers I could ever ask for. Everyone got along so well and I made a family and memories I will never forget. We had endless fun with game nights, pool get togethers, netflix binges, beach trips, city discovering, waterfall climbing, and bbqs.

Jana is so easy to get along with and quickly became a life long friend to me. Pat and her will always help you with whatever you need and they truly take care of their workawayers. Thank you so much Jana and Pat for putting up with my constant shenanigans. 🙂 I love you guys.

I stayed in Merimbula for about two weeks in January and I loved it! The work is really easy and so much fun because most of the time you work with another workawayer together. It's just up to 2, maximum 3 hours of work. The rest of the time you can explore Merimbula, go to the pool or just relax. Thanks for my first workaway experience!

I met some wonderful people and really enjoyed my time here. We did about 2 hours of work every morning, sometimes less but never more than 3 hours. The work was not difficult and most days you were paired with a buddy which made it feel less like work. I stayed at the l for 2 weeks and these two weeks were simply amazing! Most days we worked for about 2 hours and the rest of the day we were free to do whatever we wanted. We spent a little bit over one week at Hillcrest Motel in Merimbula. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful coast. The working hours are really fair (we were there during a rather quiet time and did a max. of 3 hours housekeeping every day) and the facilities and clean and comfy.

Spent about two weeks with this bunch, mostly in the Merimbula property. It's a lovely little hotel on a hill overlooking the town. You get a killer view of the town and ocean, especially at sunrise. It's pretty quiet during winter, but that's great news if you're looking for some peace and relaxation like I was. It's an easy enough walk to the… read more town and the connecting beaches, but if you have a car the whole Sapphire Coast is open to you, giving plenty of options.

The work is pretty easy and the hours are more than fair. The hosts are awesome, cooking for you some nights and offering excursions. Although I had to decline the 3 day backpacking trip, it shows a good example of what future volunteers can expect!

Overall I had a great time, and highly recommend it for anyone looking to spend some time on the Aussie coast!

I spend one week in Merimbula and an other in Canberra. A great time and I recommend this host. All the staff in very nice and helpful and happy to discuss. Merimbula is very beautiful and quiet. The hostel of Canberra it's like a big family.

I spent one month between the 2 properties in Canberra and Merimbula and it has been a great experience!
I had fun with the other volunteers and I used to work only few hours (4 maximum); generally housekeeping.
This is a great way to travel, save money and discover real Australia via local people..
