Description

For our hostel, we are looking for workawayers to help us weekly 25 hours for exchange of bed and breakfast. We prefer minimum two weeks commitment.

The work exchange experience consists mostly reception help and also can be artistic exchange for making art in the hostel.

We also cook dinner for our guest every night so any experience and/ or passion with cooking is very welcome.

There is a free breakfast offered from 8 till 11 every morning. There is always tea, coffee and mineral water offered in common areas for free. As the name implies, we are always looking for kittens to roam in the common area.

Our hostel is a social hostel, but not a party one. There is some writing on the entrance wall which explains our preference about tolerance: We are not able to tolerate any kind of behavior consisting of religious, sexual, or ethnic discrimination. This is for the comfort of any individual staying with us.

Here, we the staff are travelers' connection to the city and the country , we endeavor to present you the preferences for enjoying the city in different ways. This may be called a discovery, we are a part of this whole process. Costa Rica has all kinds of nature including oceans, volcanoes, forests, springs, streams and waterfalls among dozens of nature parks, and hundreds of marked and unmarked hiking trails. We are ready to give you a glimpse into a secret world of this special country 🙂
Help

We are looking for help exchange our hostel. help with tourists. Apart from our "formal" tasks of making the beds, cleaning, check in and out, we all have the time and freedom to do everything we like – cooking, handcrafting, or just relaxing. The hostel has walls painted by previous guests and artists, we offer a free night stay to travelers who want to make a performance or art in the hostel. This is a part of the whole vibe here.

Working here for two weeks allowed us to really get to know San Jose, perfect the art of folding a fitted sheet, and learn more about hostel management which we are really interested in. At the hostel there is never a dull moment and we feel we made strong, lasting relationships with guests and staff alike. Maria, Manfred and Andy really go the extra mile to make this a special place. Would recommend for anyone interested in enjoying Costa Rica!

I stayed for two weeks in this hostel and I LOVED IT! Highly recommended! The volunteer work is quite flexible in times and responsibilities depending on your abilities and schedule. The staff Sedat, Andy and Maria were friendly and easygoing. The hostel is very well located and has good vibes, essential for a great workaway experience 🙂

My friend Jacey and I had a wonderful workaway experience at the Hostel. I volunteered for 3 weeks and Jacey for 2 weeks. We helped with reception and some laundry. Sedat, Andy, and Maria were great to work with and made our time here comfortable and enjoyable :). My stay at the hostal was very good ! It was my first workaway experience and I had a really great time there, almost two months. The work is really nice and easy, it's about being at the reception for check-in or check-out, making reservations on the website, helping people to organize their trip and to move in and around San José… And if you… read more speak spanish, you'll be the official translator in the hostal !
I was doing 3 shifts of 8 hours a week, but you can totally organise your time in a different way. Sedat and Andy are really nice and flexible persons and they're always looking how to organize your shifts on the best way for everyone.
All the other people working at the hostal are also really nice, and you'll have greats conversations with María, the night-shift girl ! And last but not least, don't be afraid if Andy speak very fast or if it's sounds like muttering, it's not against you : he's probably making a joke you just didn't understand or speaking in turkish !

Thank you all for making me part of the team, for all these pizzas, for the experience in managing an hostel, it was a great stay ! Hope to see you again in any part of the world !!!

Volunteering herel was a highly rewarding and incredible experience. We ran the nightly communal dinner, and truly valued the continuous opportunity to bring people together at one table, and meet travellers from all around the world. This hostel has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and the help was chill. My parter and I stayed for two weeks, sharing the night shift or cleaning and making the beds. The schedule and help were pretty flexible. The was room for us to make suggestions and take on some tasks of our choosing. Great experience !
I've stayed 3 weeks in this hostel, doing morning shifts (grocery shopping, preparing breakfast, helping with guests).
It was really easy work, the environment was so easy-going, I've always felt happy working there.
