I am a individual host. I am an MBA Engineer who dedicates to help School children with their learning, Maths, Science, English language and others. This activity let me spend more time with my family,this is my own project.

I need to add intercultural experience with my students in their English language learning. I organize different recreational activities and lesson plans to work with them.

My kids are english learner at home as well, that is why I look for childcare help only to play with them, because they are always under my supervision.

Living with my family will let you know how Peruvian people are, what we eat and you can learn or improve your Spanish and taste healthy homemade food. I like to bake bread. You could share with us your cooking talent too.

I spect to receive the volunteers at home and give them a nice stay sharing with the family and tips for a safety stay in the city.

**** SPECIAL HELP REQUIRED: Looking for a 2-3 team workawayers for summer vacations activities -January & February 2020 – 4 days activities – weekend free ****

I need the help of native or near native English speakers who loves working with children. It´s not necessary high level of Spanish knowledgement, basic or none Spanish speakers are welcome.
Every workawayer will receive a lesson plan ready to be execute with the children. Each session is 90 minutes and the maximum is 3 sessions per day, but normally are 2 sessions per day.
Reading comprehension, conversation, pronunciation, and homework help are the principal task to be done the children. Every session includes educational and recreational game boards too.

All the children have their own main teacher at their school, who gives them the first and principal knowledge of english language. My project doesn´t work like a school or institute where the students are evaluated for a next grade, the focus of my project is to give the children the oportunity to practice their english through games or worksheets, to know and listen how a foreign speaks english (native or near native), to have a intercultural exchange experience, to sociability, to receive some help for their homework.

You will be in a shared bedroom with another workawayer same gender, breakfast and lunch (or dinner) every day. No problem with vegetarian. Laundry machine, Tv Cable and Internet WiFi available.

On weekends you could visit many places around like Lima Center, Miraflores, Barranco, Lurín, Pachacamac. – Ica and Huacachina.

I arrived to this work away in May and I stayed two weeks. Some problems came up for me and I had to leave early, however I think that was the best decision for me.
The location is actually in Punta Negra which is about 40 – 50 minutes from the City which I was unaware of till a few days before and I should of asked because I was looking forward… read more to being in the City so that is my fault (I am not sure where the pictures are taken from this workaway ad), I had to manage to find my way to Punta Negra myself. Also, I had just completed my English teaching certificate and was looking forward to getting more experience in the English field but once I arrived at the house I was told the school was on vacations (no problem) and that we would be watching their children. I was unaware that there was children at the home (which again is not a problem). Alejandro and Mili were very nice letting us in the home and cooked breakfast and lunch for us everyday. Once the next week came, I was told there was only school on Thursday and Fridays and on Mondays we would go to Lima to do a private lesson in the night. Again I was really looking forward to spending my days in a school getting more experience so I was a little upset about this, most of the time was spent watching their children. I wish that the advertisement would state that it is more directed to watching the children instead of teaching English. The children were very adorable and super loving and fun to be around but for my personal self I would have preferred to know before hand.

I was also hoping for more of a Peruvian Experience, some more local Peruvian food, and maybe to take us out to some areas close by and educate us or show us around (the other workaway and I), however they were very busy with work (understandable) and we needed to watch the children.

Punta Negra was very quiet as it is Winter in Peru now, I thank the family for letting me in their home for 2 weeks and providing me with a house and some food and getting to meet the children, I enjoyed my two days at the school that I had!

When I arrived at the house all I was looking for was some cozy place, where I could eat healthily, relax and enjoy my time with the kids. Frankly, I had much more than this. I planned to stay with Alejandro, Luzmilla, Arantxa and Facu only for 2 weeks and it turned out that I extended for 3 weeks more. I had such a great time in Punta Negra! We… read more used to help the teacher at school, play with Arantxa and Facu and also teach children in Lima. If you enjoy having some time to relax by the beach and chill with children it's just the perfect place! We eat well, take rest and chat with Alejandro and Mili about anything, they are such a welcoming couple!
The only thing I noticed it could improve is that the profile gives the impression that the main work is teaching children English at school, but it is babysitting in the house with the kids. But actually babysitting was such a good learning for me because I wasn't expecting that I would enjoy so much spending my time with Arantxa and Facu! Already missing them!
